In today’s show, Chris interviews Lance Spitzig, Student-at-law, BLG LLP.
We start this show with Lance recalling his life before Student Works. What was Lance like before joining the program? And, what were some of his major frustrations as a teenager? Lance shares his disappointment with the dearth of good opportunities that allowed him to hone his skillsets.
Next, Lance shares some key highlights from his Student Works stint. Listeners will learn how this experience set Lance up for a successful career in the corporate world.
The next segment of the show is about Lance’s long-contemplated venture into law. Lance starts this part of the show by sharing his experience as an undergraduate student. After a brief hiatus from academia, he entered law school with renewed focus that allowed him to graduate with top honors.
During law school, Lance worked as a summer student on Bay Street for one of Canada’s biggest law firms. After graduation, Lance returned to that firm as an articling student. Lance walks us through the entire job search and hiring process. Listeners will also get a “peek” into the life of a law student and lawyer, the daily routine and responsibilities.
