In today’s show, Chris interviews Jason Haelzle, Principal, Vice President, GHD.
This show starts with Jason recalling his life as a teenager. A high performing engineering student, Jason was also a national-level hockey player and a star Student Works operator. So, how did Jason manage these different and demanding roles? In this segment of the show, we discuss the importance of cultivating a solid work ethic.
Next, Jason shares some interesting details about this professional life. Right after Student Works, Jason started working for an engineering firm, CRA. This 400-person firm grew ten-fold in just under a decade. Eventually, CRA merged with GHD to create a 10,000-person strong engineering giant with a global footprint.
In this segment, Jason recalls his early days at CRA, and shares how he managed to rise through the corporate ranks to eventually become Principal and VP. What are some key attributes that contributed to Jason’s spectacular success?
Jason also talks a bit about the many advantages of working for a large-scale business. Topics discussed include the ability to exploit global opportunities and take up larger, more sophisticated projects.
